I just signed up at pinnacle and it seems great...however i made a spread bet. i dont know what that means. I put in a wager for 100 dollars and hit the confirm button and didnt really look at it. It said risking 121 to win 100
wow thats one expensive vig. can any one explain why i paid a 20% vig and gave 11.5 points .. and what the heck is a spread bet

A spread bet is the same as a straight pointspread bet, you either give or take points and lay or take whatever juice is attached. In your case you bet a favorite -11.5 points and minus 21 cents or $1.21. in other words your risking $1.21 to win $1.00 and laying 11.5 points - which is a pretty good sized favorite. Most likely other books had lines of -12 or -12.5 -1.10 but at Pinnacle they very often use juice instead of points when they move the pointspread of a game. For you to win your bet your team must win by at least 12 points. If you win you will get all the money you risked back including your juice. Which in this case is $221 - that includes your risk amount $121 and your win amount $100. If your team wins by less than 12 or loses outright you lose $121.

Good luck, wil.

thanks

i made other bets on the same team, i was winning at black jack and kept throwing the winnings onto utah st. the other bets didnt have that high of vig. i just hit the {to risk }button for lack of understanding it. Why would they offer this bet other than to betters taking the dog?

Example

<TABLE borderColor=#ffffff cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 rules=all width="100%" border=2 frame=box><TBODY><TR bgColor=#eeeeee><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left>Sun 1/30</TD><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left>831</TD><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left>Arkansas LR</TD><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left><INPUT class=main_body_blk maxLength=7 size=6 name=S1_8> -2 -1.16</TD><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left></TD><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left><TD vAlign=center align=middle rowSpan=2></TD></TR><TR bgColor=#eeeeee><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left>12:00 PM</TD><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left>832</TD><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left>Florida Intl</TD><TD class=main_body_blk noWrap align=left><INPUT class=main_body_blk maxLength=7 size=6 name=S2_8> +2 +1.06 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Depending on the side you like you need to enter the amount you want to risk in the white box. In this case Arkansas L.R is -2 -$1.16 you are risking $1.16 (plus 2 points) to win $100.

Florida International would pay you plus $106 if you risked $100 (plus 2 points in your favor) on them.

It sounds like you need to make sure you know what you are risking when you make a bet. It is very late right now hopefully some other posters will add some info to what I have posted tonight.

Best of luck, wil.

Hey DABEAN.....

SBG is a bunch of frauds....Two buddies of mine were not paid out by these guys..One was for $800 and one was for $5700.....If I were you I would be careful with how much you keep in there...Its hilliarious talking to the guys there, they are so high pressure and will basically deep throat you to get your money..Anywho, HAve a good one..PEACE...

BTW, who the f*ck is Michael Buffer.??..He sounds like a ***....

Good books to use

If you are small try and have 4 outs at least....

Pinny
OLY
Bodog
Hollywood

Are my suggestions......

Skybook is good too....

DA BEAN.....

OOOHHH, Thats who Michael Buffer is......I m not big into the announcer scene....That guy is definetly well known though...

If you are going to have 2 books only I would take a sharp book like PInnacle and then go with a more square book such as BET 365 or BODOG...Both safe and have some juicy DOG lines available...Good job in getting rid of SBG ..I dont think too many here at RX will argue with that...Have a good one...
